COVID-19 Updates

What Is COVID-19?
COVID-19 is a new type of coronavirus that is easily transmitted from person to person. This new virus has been affecting people since December of 2019. Experts are still trying to understand why some people get mild symptoms like a common cold to a severe illness like pneumonia and have to be hospitalized. Older people and those with underlying health problems like diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular disease are at a greater risk of becoming severely ill. As of right now, there are no known treatments or vaccines to prevent the spread of COVID-19. There are vaccines being tested in clinical trials, yet they have not been approved. Each state has implemented safety guidelines to stop the spread of COVID-19
In the State of Oregon Guidelines are as follows:
1. Face masks are required for ages 5 and older in all workplaces, indoor public spaces, private and public universities and colleges, and indoor and outdoor markets
*people with disabilities or health problems may request accommodation.
2. Practice Social Distancing by avoiding group gatherings or close contact with other people by keeping 6ft apart

Foro Comunitario Subvención Salud Equitativa/ Community Forum Health Equity Grant
Our team counts with the support of the first indigenous promoters of the Mixtec, Chuj, Q'anjob'al, Akatekos, Zapotecos, in the state of Oregon. In this community forum we talked about the Health Equity Grant from Oregon Health Authority (OHA). In which we had a conversation about how we, as TierrAgua, plan to carry out this project and what makes us Unique from other non-profit organizations. This new projects objective is to reduce the disparities and lack of equity towards our indigenous communities. |
